Halifax Hospital Strikes $1M Deal to End FCA Litigation

Law360, Washington (July 15, 2014, 3:34 PM ET) — Halifax Hospital Medical Center and the U.S. Department of Justice have tentatively agreed to settle the remainder of a massive Medicare suit in Florida federal court accusing the hospital of falsely billing innumerable claims, according to court documents unsealed Friday.
The federal government has agreed to accept a $1 million payment from Halifax to end a whistleblower False Claims Act suit alleging the hospital defrauded Medicare by admitting Medicare patients for needless overnight stays.
